The Oxford Trust
The Oxford Trust is an independent charitable trust that was founded in 1985 by entrepreneurs Sir Martin and Audrey, Lady Wood. Our mission is to encourage and facilitate the study, application and communication of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
We are a strategic organisation with complementary programmes running across three key objectives:
- Enterprise – To support economic growth by encouraging innovation.
- Education – To inspire young people about science, technology, engineering and maths.
- Engagement – To encourage people of all ages to engage with how scientific research impacts their lives.
We support early-stage science and innovation companies through our Oxford Centre for Innovation facility and business support services. Later this year the Trust, which was a founding member of Venturefest, will begin work on a new science and education centre in Oxford.
Through our public-facing brand Science Oxford, we aim to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators through inventive education outreach and teacher CPD. We also engage with people of all ages about how scientific research and discoveries impacts our through interactive activities for families and informative and thought-provoking events for adults.
Head of Development
Wendy Twist is Head of Development at The Oxford Trust, an independent charitable trust that was founded in 1985 by entrepreneurs Sir Martin and Audrey, Lady Wood. Our mission is to encourage and facilitate the study, application and communication of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Our highly successful non-profit business model reinvests revenues into three complementary programmes: Enterprise, Education and Engagement.
A scientist by training, Wendy is interested in supporting businesses that deliver social benefit and in financial innovations that enable them to deliver greater impact. Wendy managed international programmes for the International Business Leaders Forum before moving to develop business networks for sustainability at Forum for the Future. More recently, as a Director of The Low Carbon Hub, she led the successful investment raise of just under £2million to develop renewable energy schemes in Oxfordshire.
Wendy is leading on funding for the Trust’s latest venture – the creation of Stansfeld Park – a new and unique Innovation and Science Education Centre in Oxford. Stansfeld Park will double the Trust’s capacity to support science and technology start-up companies and will engage over 18,000 schoolchildren and their teachers each year in high quality science education.
We are looking for partners to help us deliver this ambitious project to create the scientists of the future. Please come and find out all about it.
